New health data agency wants to use health data smarter
Description
Starting early next year, the new federal "Health Data Agency" should make the tangle of health data more accessible, ultimately leading to better research, diagnoses and treatments.
To better open up the jumble of health data and use it to achieve greater health gains, federal Minister of Social Affairs and Public Health Frank Vandenbroucke included the creation of a Health Data Agency (HDA) in his policy paper at the start of the legislature.
The cabinet now indicates that the new agency will start early next year, as an autonomous service in the bosom of the federal public health department.
