The reference to Belgium and the BEDF in the article:
"A recent initiative from the national equivalent of the EUDF (The Belgian Diabetes Forum – BeDF) has been key to promote diabetes as case for the set-up of a generic system of identification of people living with a chronic disease and linking these data to outcomes and informing health authorities allowing them to adapt the healthcare system if needed. As such, the Ministry of Health has adopted diabetes as the pilot for registries, in the context of a larger project called Health Data Agency (HDA). In line with the EUDF recommendations, the HDA aspires to encourage population management, scientific research, innovation and policy making to ultimately help improve the health of citizens."
